The route
The fifth stage leaves Orce by the hermitage of San Sebastián and heads north across the broad fields of Puebla de Don Fadrique, passing the Cortijos de Astor, Casas de Don Juan, Cortijo de la Hoya Cuevas and the Lóbrega gully before reaching Puebla de Don Fadrique.
Data from the official Great Path website: 33 km one way and about 8 h 40 min on foot. It is not technically difficult, but the distance makes it the hardest stage of the trek: the guide itself warns that many walkers give up here. With no published MIDE rating, the «high» difficulty is an estimate based on walking time (effort section).
Bring plenty of water and sun protection, and look after your feet: the guide recommends paying special attention to them on this stage. Plan your return from Puebla de Don Fadrique.
